0.50 poundsThe Pipe Chanter Reed Block is designed to make your cane pipe reeds easier to play. The middle section is designed for ridge-cut reeds with the outer two sections set to accommodate a straight cut reed. Patched to the side of the Reed Block is a find sandpaper that will allow for careful adjustments to the body of the reed.
Using the Reed Block:
When inserting a reed in to the block, take caution not to catch the corners of the reed as they will easily chip. Gently pinch the reed at the tips of the blades to make a proper insertion. When seating the reed in the Reed Block, push in just far enough so that the tops of the blade are closed. Avoid jamming the reed beyond it's natural threshold as this may cause permanent damage.
Leave the reed in for a minimum of 1 hour and for more permanent results, leave in for several hours at a time. It is recommended to start at just an hour, then play the reed, and set back in the Reed Block prior to your next practice session.
