Dear Mr. Rooney,
I must send a note to let you know how much I appreciate your help in ordering a set of bagpipes, setting up those pipes for me, and your support after my purchase.
In mid May I called and ordered a set of bagpipes (I requested the McCallum P2 pipes). During the ordering process you were very generous with your experience providing recommendations on the set up and suggestions about learning to play. The day after the pipes arrived I called you in a panic over how difficult it was to blow the pipes. Again, you were very kind and generous of your time in describing the process of learning to play the bagpipes and encouraging me to continue.
Although I've wanted to learn the bagpipes for many years (40+) I finally decided to do it this year with the (entirely unreasonable) goal of playing the pipes at my mother's memorial service (mid-July). I worked hard and practiced almost every day. I found an online instructor who was very helpful. I took my pipes with me on a previously planned month long camping trip in the four corners area of the SW US. I practiced the bagpipes in a number of remote locations across northern Arizona, southern Utah, western Colorado, and northern New Mexico.
The final result was that at my mother's memorial I played as the family scattered her ashes. It was a deeply moving experience and one my mother would have appreciated. I thank you for helping to make that possible.
Since then I have continued to enjoy playing the bagpipe and I expect to enjoy it for many years to come. I appreciate your help in starting me on this journey.
